Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nicklas Berg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hank Marvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hank Marvin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Nicklas Berg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Hank Marvin!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Berg closes the distance and clinches.
Marvin wants to get back to striking at distance but Berg won't allow it.
Marvin fails to pull guard.
Berg tries to land a knee to the head but Marvin blocks with his arms.

Berg escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Marvin throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Berg decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Berg content to control rather than advance.
Berg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marvin keeps working.
Marvin wants to get back to full guard but Berg has mounted him!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Berg controlling the pace for now.
Berg trying to control but Marvin is having none of it.

Berg swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Marvin is now in Berg's guard. A big mistake from Berg there, giving up the dominant position!
Berg wants to sweep here but Marvin controlling him for the moment.
Berg throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Marvin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Berg is on top in guard.
Berg won't allow Marvin to get back to his feet.
Marvin has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cozad MMA London. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Marvin is looking for a triangle here but Berg uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Marvin is desperately trying to improve his position but Berg has a good base and remains in mount.

Marvin is trying to reverse the position but instead Berg has taken his back - oops!

Marvin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Berg. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Berg somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Berg is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Marvin is defending well though. Berg let's go of the attempt for now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Marvin is trying to stand back up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Berg is punishing Marvin with some ground and pound.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Berg has a takedown stuffed.
A left and a right from Marvin both land. Nice combination.
Berg tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Marvin tries to land a leg kick but Berg saw it coming and moves away.
Marvin connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Marvin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Berg manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Berg shoots in but Marvin avoids the takedown attempt easily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Berg wants to control but Marvin postures up.
A bit of a lull in the action here.

Marvin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Marvin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Berg manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Marvin wants to improve his position but Berg is controlling well.
Berg thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Berg perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Marvin throws a head kick but Berg moves out of range.

Nicklas Berg overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Berg passes the guard and advances to mount!

Berg is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Marvin has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Marvin!

Berg is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Berg is trying to control the position but Marvin postures up.

Marvin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Berg haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Berg is trying to keep Marvin in close.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Hank Marvin.

Berg closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Berg lands in his opponent's guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Nicklas Berg will probably get the nod.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nicklas Berg. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Berg jumps guard but Marvin stands there with Berg around his waist. Berg gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Marvin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Berg throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marvin's waist but Marvin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Berg off to one side.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Marvin misses with a low kick as Berg jumps back.
Marvin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Marvin clinches with his opponent.

Berg's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Berg fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Marvin misses with a body shot.
Marvin throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Berg.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Marvin plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


Berg is rocked!
A combination from Marvin does no damage.
Oh Berg is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Marvin tries to score with a low kick but Berg moves his leg out of the way.
Berg fails with the takedown.
Marvin scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
A looping hook to the body misses from Berg. Marvin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Berg misses with a lunging right hand

and Marvin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Berg's guard.
Marvin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Berg's guard.

Marvin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Berg doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Marvin.

Berg regains full guard. Nicely done.
Hank Marvin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Marvin would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Berg has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Marvin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Nicklas Berg is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Marvin gives up his back whilst trying to strike.
