Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nate Kart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andrew Swanson! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Daniel Franklin and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kart pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Kart looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Kart thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Swanson's head. Kart is trying to control the action in half guard but Swanson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Swanson wants to control but Kart is keeping busy.
Kart trying to control the action but Swanson is working from the bottom. Swanson regains full guard. Nicely done. Swanson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Swanson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Swanson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Kart manages to get to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Swanson working some strikes from top position. Swanson trying to control but Kart is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Swanson tries to free his leg and advance position but Kart is retaining full guard. Kart looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Swanson stays in close to Kart's body and controls the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kart is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Swanson defends well. Swanson passes easily into side control. Nice work. Swanson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kart, who protects the arm well. Swanson has hold of Kart's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Kart seems comfortable defending it but Swanson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Kart is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Kart is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Swanson couldn't care less - he's delighted!
