Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Breda Assen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan Nelson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryan Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Breda Assen! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Assen gets a clinch. Assen is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Nelson to keep the fight standing. Assen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A jab from Assen does it's job there. Assen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown letting Nelson counter with a right hand. Assen throws a head kick that Nelson semi-blocks.
Breda Assen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Assen fails with a takedown attempt. Ryan Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Breda Assen. Assen shoots in for a takedown but Nelson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Nelson shoots in looking for a takedown. Assen tries to sprawl out of it but Nelson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Assen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Assen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Nelson counters with a nice body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Assen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nelson is fending him off so far but Assen persists. Nope, Nelson circles away and we're back to standing. Assen tries to land a front kick but Nelson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Assen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Nelson counters with a lovely shot to the body. Assen looks winded! Assen has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Assen moves into the clinch successfully.

A short right from Assen. Assen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nelson walks away with a smile on his face. Assen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Nelson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Assen is trying to defend but Nelson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Assen tries to roll over but Nelson keeps him under control. Assen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nelson is working away from the top position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nelson is controlling the pace.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ryan Nelson wasn't doing enough on the ground. Assen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nelson tries to avoid it but Assen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nelson to the ground. Nelson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Nelson moves in looking to clinch but Assen pushes him off. Assen takes the fight into the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Assen works on Nelson's body with a couple of short punches. Assen avoids a wild elbow strike from Nelson. Assen fails to pull guard.

Assen tries to break the clinch but Nelson is controlling the position. Nelson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Assen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Nelson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Assen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nelson shoots in for a double leg but Assen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Nelson tries to clinch and Assen counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Nelson is lucky that one didn't land flush. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Breda Assen will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Assen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nelson as he jumps to the side. Assen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Nelson closes the distance and pushes Assen back into the cage. Assen can't find room to land a body shot as Nelson controls the action.

Assen is trying to pull guard but Nelson has him pressed against the cage. Ryan Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Breda Assen. Nelson missing with knees to the body.
Assen decides to pull guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Assen has his foot on Nelson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nelson works his way back into a safe position though. Assen is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Assen seems keen to control Nelson's posture. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Assen working a defensive guard here.

Nelson decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Assen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nelson pinned against the cage. Nelson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Breda Assen seems to be getting the better of the standup. Assen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nelson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Assen paws at him with a jab and circles away. Nelson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nelson wants it to stay on the feet. Nelson drives through with a takedown into Assen's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Assen moves into the clinch. Nelson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Assen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nelson tries to clinch up. Assen shoots in looking for a takedown but Nelson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Assen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Nelson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Assen, right into the meat.
Assen with a lazy takedown attempt and Nelson counters into the clinch. Nicely done. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nelson avoiding damage.

Ryan Nelson dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
The fight moves into the clinch position. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Nelson has Assen pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Assen manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Nelson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Nelson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Assen displaying some good clinch control by pressing Nelson up against the cage. Assen on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Nelson with a knee to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nelson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Assen.

Assen clobbers Nelson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Nelson has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Assen. Assen drives through and clinches with Nelson against the cage.

Assen tries to land a sweep but no joy. Nelson is pushing down on Assen's leg trying to pass to half guard. Assen is fighting to maintain full guard but Nelson has managed to sneak the leg through. Assen preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nelson stops Assen from getting back to his feet.
Assen works his way to full guard. Good work. Assen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nelson defends it easily. Assen is trying to push Nelson off with his feet but Nelson grabs hold of one of the legs and drops back looking for a submission! He's cranking on one of Assen's ankles and Assen is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaall over!
