PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Slouth Thor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erik Weisz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Slouth Thor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Erik Weisz!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thor shoots in but no luck this time.
Thor checks the leg kick.
Thor shoots for a takedown but Weisz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Thor tries a head kick but it misses.
Thor swats away the attempt to clinch by Weisz.
Thor shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Weisz as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Slouth Thor. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Weisz is looking to clinch.
Thor has been working on his balance at HILITE Fighting Club, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Weisz.
Thor shoots for a takedown but Weisz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Weisz clinches.

Weisz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Weisz misses with an uppercut. Thor saw that one coming.
Thor shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Weisz sprawls well. Weisz wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Thor gets slowly back to his feet.
Weisz tries to clinch but Thor moves out of range.

Weisz closes the distance and clinches.
Thor jumps guard but Weisz stands there with Thor around his waist. Thor gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Thor manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Weisz wants to stand but Thor is controlling his posture from full guard.
Weisz loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Thor looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Weisz tries to free his leg and advance position but Thor is retaining full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Weisz working some strikes from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thor can't keep his opponent in guard - Weisz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Weisz keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Thor tries to get to full guard but Weisz has control of the leg.
Weisz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Thor does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Thor wants to control but Weisz is keeping busy.
Weisz winds up and cracks Thor with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Thor is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Thor trying to hold on to Weisz's head to control him but Weisz postures up.

Thor is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Thor gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Weisz to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Thor is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Weisz moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Weisz is trying to control the position but Thor postures up.
Thor wants to control from the top but Weisz keeps moving.
Thor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Weisz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Weisz manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Thor is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Erik Weisz dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Weisz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Thor's waist but Thor gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Weisz off to one side.
Thor shoots in looking for a takedown. Weisz tries to sprawl out of it but Thor keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Weisz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Weisz swats away the attempt to clinch by Thor.
Weisz takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Weisz throws the kick towards the body but Thor avoids it.

Weisz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Thor was covering up waiting for the punch and Weisz finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Weisz wants to control from the top but Thor keeps moving.
Weisz might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Thor haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Weisz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Erik Weisz was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Thor shoots in and gets a takedown into Weisz's guard.
Weisz has control of Thor's left arm, preventing Thor from doing any damage.
Weisz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Thor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Weisz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Weisz controls Thor momentarily but Thor frees himself.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Weisz. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Thor wants to control from the top but Weisz keeps moving.

Weisz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Thor closes the distance and pushes Weisz back into the cage.

Weisz fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Weisz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Thor has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Thor is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Weisz is defending well.
Thor tries to break free but Weisz pushes him back against the cage.

Weisz manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Weisz pulls Thor in close to prevent any damage.

Weisz wants to stand but Thor is controlling the position.

Weisz seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Erik Weisz has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Thor doesn't manage to clinch there - Weisz circles away.

Thor rushes Weisz and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Weisz manages to break the clinch.
Weisz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Thor sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Weisz wants to land a leg kick but Thor is out of range.

Thor gets caught flat footed, as Weisz shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Weisz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Weisz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Thor has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Weisz has managed to get both his arms back between Thor's legs - danger averted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Erik Weisz will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Weisz misses the body punch
and Thor counters with a straight right hand.
Thor will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Weisz thows a left - swing and a miss!
Thor avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Weisz clinches up against the cage.
Weisz stalls.
Weisz is looking to break free of the clinch but Thor has double underhooks.

Thor pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Thor shoots for a double leg takedown but Weisz sprawls well. He's pushed Thor's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Thor misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thor tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Weisz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Weisz decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
It looks like Weisz is going to stand back up.

Weisz in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Thor tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Weisz!
