Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Peters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chuck Liddel!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Liddel.
Liddel misses with a two punch combination.

and Peters counters with a stiff right hand.

Liddel clinches.

Liddel has picked Peters up - he's going for a ride! Liddel dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Peters tries to roll over but Liddel keeps him under control.
Liddel is controlling the pace.
Liddel blocks the strikes from Peters.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Liddel seems content to control.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Chuck Liddel wasn't active enough on the ground.
Liddel throws a low kick but Peters moves out of range easily.

Liddel gets a double leg takedown into Peters's guard.
Liddel sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Peters's guard.
Liddel looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Peters with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Liddel thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Peters's head.

Liddel is keen to just control but Peters is a slippery customer.
Liddel not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Liddel thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Liddel content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Liddel decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Liddel lands a two punch combo.
Chuck Liddel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Liddel throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Peters blocks a head kick by Liddel.

Liddel throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Peters was covering up waiting for the punch and Liddel finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Liddel postures up and lands a big shot to Peters's brow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Liddel loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Peters throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Liddel sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Peters seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Liddel throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Liddel trying to control the position from guard on top but Peters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuck Liddel dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Liddel slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Liddel advances nicely into full mount.

Liddel postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Peters bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Liddel and the fight is over!
