Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Henry Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dreiko Lao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dreiko Lao will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Henry Hogan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dreiko Lao! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Steve Montenegro and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lao misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hogan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hogan showed some decent athleticism there. Lao looks winded! We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Hogan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Hogan keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Hogan seems to be working for a kimura but Lao defends the submission attempt. Lao trying to control here.
Lao wants to improve his position but Hogan is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hogan is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Nice strikes from Hogan there. Lao on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hogan in particular looking to stall. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Hogan lands with a punch from half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Hogan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Lao should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Hogan seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Lao wants to control but Hogan is keeping busy and won't allow it. Hogan slows the pace down in half guard. Hogan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lao for as long as he can get away with.
We're going to have a standup here because Henry Hogan wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Hogan moves into the clinch. Hogan lands a body punch in the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hogan manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Lao is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there. Hogan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Hogan controlling Lao's posture. Lao stopping the sweep attempt from Hogan. Hogan pulls Lao in close to his closed guard and prevents Lao from doing any damage or advancing position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hogan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Hogan throws a front kick aimed at Lao's knee but Lao avoids it well. Hogan gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Hogan has picked Lao up - he's going for a ride! Hogan dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Lao is trying to stand.
Hogan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Hogan tries to stand and escape but Lao is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lao trying to hold on to Hogan's head to control him but Hogan postures up.
Hogan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hogan is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Hogan landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hogan controlling the action here. Hogan winds up and cracks Lao with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Hogan is keen to just control but Lao is a slippery customer. Hogan tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Hogan trying to control the pace. Hogan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lao is looking to escape. Lao is controlling Hogan's trapped leg to prevent Hogan from advancing to side control. Lao has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hogan is working away from the top position though.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Hogan misses with a low kick. Hogan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Lao tries to keep at a distance but Hogan has taken the fight into the clinch. Lao is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hogan is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Lao to the mat. Lao regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hogan landing some decent shots from guard. Our spies down at at Cozad MMA New York inform us that Lao has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hogan's corner is telling him to maintain position. Lao trying to keep a closed guard but Hogan is proving a slippery customer.
Hogan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Henry Hogan just wasn't active enough. Hogan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lao to the mat! Lao manages to get full guard. Hogan looking to control the position here, rather than advance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Henry Hogan dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
The fight moves into the clinch position. Lao on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Hogan jumps guard.
Lao in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Hogan looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Lao passes into side control.
Lao working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hogan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lao wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Hogan struggling a bit here. Hogan is trying to work for a sweep but Lao has mounted him!
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Lao throws some wild stikes that Hogan manages to avoid easily.
Hogan on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hogan tries to get out of the position. Lao thowing shots but they're missing. Lao trying to control but he's not successful this time. Hogan throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Hogan is wriggling around trying to escape.
Henry Hogan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hogan tries to buck Lao off but Lao takes his back! Hogan is keeping busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lao is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hogan trying to control but not successfully. Hogan looking very determined here, making life difficult for Lao.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Henry Hogan. Well Hogan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
