PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wan Benming (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arjuna Pandava (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pandava has chosen 月刀歌 by Katanagatari OST as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arjuna Pandava!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pandava throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Pandava tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pandava moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.


It looks like Wan Benming has been cut.

and Benming counters with a thumping low kick.

Pandava throws a low kick, looking for Benming's leg but Benming calmly moves out of range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Benming could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Arjuna Pandava seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pandava throws a hook to the side of Benming's head but Benming sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Pandava fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Benming has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Benming scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Pandava doesn't seem bothered though.

Pandava is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Pandava throws a right and a left that Benming avoids nicely.

and Benming connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

letting Benming counter with a right hand.
Benming chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Pandava can pounce on him.
Pandava throws a low kick but it's checked well by Benming.

Benming bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Benming is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Pandava is trying to escape and Benming transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Pandava is forced to tap! Nice work there by Benming! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Wan Benming!
