PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hanibal Hanyszewsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chocolate Al (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Al has chosen HammerFall - Head Over Heels as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hanibal Hanyszewsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chocolate Al!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Chad Campbell and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Al bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Hanyszewsky on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Al. Al obviously looking to wear him down.
Hanyszewsky throws a body kick that misses

and Al counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Al wants to work for an arm triangle but Hanyszewsky is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hanyszewsky is not content to let Al control the position.
Hanyszewsky trying to control but Al postures up.
Well, if Al is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Hanyszewsky is trying to maintain the position but Al is very close to passing his half guard.

Hanibal Hanyszewsky has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Hanyszewsky throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Al takes a swing at Hanyszewsky's ribcage but misses.
Hanyszewsky misses the jab.
Hanyszewsky avoids a kick to the body.
Al wants to clinch.
Al slips under a jab.
Hanyszewsky throws a nice looking combination but Al bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Al pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Al avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Al moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
A left lands for Al.
A jab lands there for Hanyszewsky.
We've been told by Hanyszewsky's head coaches at Johny Fighting Temple that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Hanyszewsky throws a jab when Al was well out of range.

Hanyszewsky avoids the body shot from Al.
Al lands a leg kick that knocks Hanyszewsky off balance momentarily.
Al moves out of range as Hanyszewsky strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Al counters with a takedown into side control.

Al is trying to get an arm triangle but Hanyszewsky is defending well.

Al decides to stand back up. Al steps back and let's Hanyszewsky get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Donk. Al catches Hanyszewsky right on the button with a cross.
Al tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hanyszewsky swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hanyszewsky throws an off balance right hand

and Al counters with a takedown into side control.
Al laying and praying for a moment but Hanyszewsky takes advantage and regains half guard.
Al has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Hanyszewsky works to full guard.
Al wants to control from the top but Hanyszewsky keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Al wants to pass the guard but Hanyszewsky is keeping the position.

Al drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hanyszewsky manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Al has Hanyszewsky in his guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hanyszewsky throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Al works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chocolate Al dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hanyszewsky attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
The fighters circling - Hanyszewsky throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Al slips a straight right by Hanyszewsky.
Al keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Chocolate Al seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Al throws a wild body kick that Hanyszewsky sees coming a mile off.
Al looks to throw a body kick
and Hanyszewsky counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Al thinking.
Al with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Al staying out of range there.
Hanyszewsky moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Al misses with a kick to the body.
Hanyszewsky swings for the body but Al moves out of range.
Hanyszewsky pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Al misses with a body kick.
That kick from Al tenderised Hanyszewsky's leg. Hanyszewsky is trying to keep his angry face on.
Al tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A clash of legs there as Hanyszewsky blocks the low kick.
Chocolate Al seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Al closes the distance and clinches.
Al goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Al throws a head punch that misses.
Al tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Hanyszewsky blocking some punches.
Al misses with some punches.
Al fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Hanyszewsky tries to work over Al's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Al tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Al prevents a takedown attempt there.
Hanyszewsky blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A body shot lands from Al.
Al blocking some punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Al doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Hanyszewsky has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Al uses from the top position.
Al is looking to pass into half guard but Hanyszewsky pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Hanyszewsky is in guard.

Al working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hanyszewsky doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hanyszewsky manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Al keeping moving, preventing Hanyszewsky from controlling successfully.

Al has his foot on Hanyszewsky's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hanyszewsky works his way back into a safe position though.

Al trying to keep a closed guard but Hanyszewsky is proving a slippery customer.

Al tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Chocolate Al has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Hanibal Hanyszewsky.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Al - that will leave a mark!
Al tries to close the distance and clinch but Hanyszewsky swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Al throws a nice inside leg kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Al connects with a body shot.
Hanyszewsky moves out of range of the body kick.
Hanyszewsky misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Al uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hanyszewsky.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Al checks a leg kick.
Al looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Al cracks Hanyszewsky with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Hanyszewsky looks to throw the jab but Al is out of range.
Al avoids a punch combination nicely.
Al tries to clinch there but Hanyszewsky circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hanyszewsky throws a looping overhand right but Al ducks down to avoid it.
Al moves into range and connects with a jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hanyszewsky blocks a jab.
A head kick from Al lands but Hanyszewsky takes it in his stride.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chocolate Al showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Al walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Hanyszewsky checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Hanyszewsky blocks the body kick.
Al misses with a low kick.
Hanyszewsky with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Hanyszewsky ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Al tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Al blocks a jab.
Al throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Al throws a leg kick but Hanyszewsky sees it coming and moves out of range.
Al pulls out of a head kick attempt.
An inside leg kick from Al misses.
Al lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hanyszewsky at a distance.
Hanyszewsky misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Al.
Al swings widly with a right hand
and Hanyszewsky connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Al has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Al feints a jab promting Hanyszewsky to slip. Al then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Hanyszewsky slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Al fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hanyszewsky manages to avoid it.
Hanyszewsky ducks under a wild hook from Al.
Al pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hanyszewsky takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Hanyszewsky takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Hanyszewsky takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.


Hanyszewsky is rocked!
Al turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Hanyszewsky jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Hanyszewsky moves out of range as Al throws a body kick.
Al dips to his left and cracks Hanyszewsky with an uppercut!
Oh Hanyszewsky is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Al lands a nice hook to Hanyszewsky's body. Hanyszewsky takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Al connects with a nice looking jab.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hanyszewsky. Al does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hanyszewsky throws out a loose jab but Al uses good head movement to avoid it.
Good leg kick by Al there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Hanyszewsky throws a jab but it's blocked by Al.
Al throws a front kick that sends Hanyszewsky stumbling back into the cage.
Hanyszewsky swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Al cracks Hanyszewsky with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Al moves out of range as Hanyszewsky strikes.
Al turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Al throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Al steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hanyszewsky.
Al connects with an inside leg kick.
Hanyszewsky misses with a wild body shot.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Al dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hanyszewsky. That did some damage!
Al throws an overhand right that drops Hanyszewsky like a sack of potatoes! Al dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chocolate Al!
Chocolate Al decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
