Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Alverez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Saffy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saffy comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Still Unbroken kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Josh Saffy is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aaron Alverez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Saffy!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Kavanagh and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alverez throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Saffy moves in looking to clinch but Alverez pushes him off.

Saffy has Alverez up against the cage in a clinch.
Alverez is working for takedown but Saffy is calmly controlling the position for now.
Saffy stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Saffy drags the fight down to the ground.
Alverez wants to get up but he can't break Saffy's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Alverez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Saffy seems keen to control Alverez's posture.
Alverez won't allow Saffy to get back to his feet.
Alverez trying to control but Saffy is working from the bottom.
Saffy can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Alverez controls the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Aaron Alverez wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Saffy lands a two punch combo.

Saffy gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Alverez drops back looking for a leg! Saffy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Saffy manages to kick Alverez off! Alverez jumps back into Saffy's guard.
Alverez throwing strikes from guard but Saffy blocks nicely.
Alverez wants to get up but he can't break Saffy's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Alverez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Alverez is fighting to break Saffy's control of his arms but Saffy is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Saffy is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Alverez rolls with it to try and escape but Saffy cranks on the arm and Alverez is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Josh Saffy!
Josh Saffy was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
