PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Damon Wojtk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bada Boom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wojtk kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Lunatic Fringe, Red Rider. Boom has chosen Here Comes the BOOM by: POD as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Damon Wojtk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bada Boom!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Josh West and Paul Gruel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom misses with a two punch combination.
Boom cracks Wojtk with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Wojtk walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Boom scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Wojtk on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Wojtk ducks under a wild hook from Boom.
Wojtk ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Wojtk drops Boom with a left and a right! Oh, Boom is hurt - Wojtk dives into side control looking to finish!

Boom is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Boom is trying to improve his position.
Boom is still in real trouble! Can Wojtk finish him?

Boom tries to bench press Wojtk off him but Wojtk keeps the position.
Wojtk content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Wojtk seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Boom for as long as he can get away with.

Boom is trying to get back to half guard.
Wojtk remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Wojtk tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Boom swivels and escapes.
Wojtk shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Boom defends it nicely.
Boom has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Boom swings for the body but Wojtk moves out of range.
Boom throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Wojtk counters with a shoot takedown. Boom fights it but they end up in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wojtk stays in close to Boom's body and controls the position.

Boom has his foot on Wojtk's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wojtk works his way back into a safe position though.
Wojtk's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Damon Wojtk wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Wojtk shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Boom manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wojtk pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Boom is keeping the position for now.

Boom is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wojtk defends well.
We've been hearing that Wojtk has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Wojtk is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Boom isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Wojtk stacks Boom on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Wojtk!

Boom is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Wojtk is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Wojtk throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Boom tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wojtk is in Boom's guard.

Boom has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Wojtk should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Boom has tightened it up now! Wojtk should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
