Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rogelio Abel Mastropardi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Alfalla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rogelio Abel Mastropardi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alfalla slips under a jab from Mastropardi.
Mastropardi moves to clinch but Alfalla breaks away

and Alfalla counters by moving into the clinch.
Mastropardi tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Alfalla is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Mastropardi lands a lovely overhand right.

Alfalla rushes Mastropardi and presses him up against the cage.
Alfalla prevents the takedown attempt.

Alfalla is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Alfalla pulls Mastropardi in close to his closed guard and prevents Mastropardi from doing any damage or advancing position.
Alfalla wants to stand and escape but Mastropardi is having none of it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
It looks like Alfalla is going to stand back up.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Mastropardi tries to close the distance and clinch but Alfalla swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Alfalla throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mastropardi was covering up waiting for the punch and Alfalla finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Alfalla might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mastropardi haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Alfalla must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mastropardi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Alfalla cracks Mastropardi with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
