PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bill Conger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alak Aksornpan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Conger comes to the cage accompanied by Tyler The Creator - Domo23. Aksornpan has chosen Thai National Anthem - "Phleng Chat Thai" as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Alak Aksornpan is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bill Conger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alak Aksornpan!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aksornpan darts in and clinches Conger up against the cage.
Conger drops down looking for an ankle pick but Aksornpan pulls his leg out and moves away.
Conger gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Aksornpan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Aksornpan gets underhooks to prevent Conger's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bill Conger. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Conger is trying to trip Aksornpan. He has hold of a leg but Aksornpan is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Conger persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Conger with a flurry of punches that miss.
Conger content to stall in guard here.
Conger throws a strike but Aksornpan rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Aksornpan sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Aksornpan trying to stand up but can't free himself from Conger's guard.
Aksornpan slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Alak Aksornpan was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Aksornpan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Aksornpan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Aksornpan moves in looking to clinch but Conger pushes him off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Aksornpan clinches.
Aksornpan displaying some good clinch control by pressing Conger up against the cage.
Conger has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Aksornpan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Aksornpan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Aksornpan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Aksornpan is defended easily by Conger.
Aksornpan's jab looks to have found its range, popping Conger under the eye.


It looks like Bill Conger has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Conger changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Aksornpan tries to avoid it but Conger manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Aksornpan to the ground. Aksornpan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Aksornpan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Conger tries to roll over but Aksornpan keeps him under control.

Aksornpan decides to stand up.
Aksornpan misses with a head kick.

Aksornpan has closed the distance and engaged Conger in a clinch.
Aksornpan dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Conger is looking to take this one to the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Aksornpan manages to break the clinch.
Conger shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Aksornpan as he jumps to the side.

Aksornpan darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Aksornpan thows a huge punch but Conger dodges it nicely.
Conger on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Conger tries to get out of the position.
Still in half guard, Aksornpan seems content to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Aksornpan decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Aksornpan lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Conger goes down and covers up as Aksornpan starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alak Aksornpan!
Alak Aksornpan was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
In defeat, Bill Conger stepped up to the mic, saying 'That fight wasn't fair, and I only had a one day to train.'.
