Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Barney Rubble (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and AL Lickertwat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rubble's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Rage Against The Machine - No Shelter. Barney Rubble is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Barney Rubble!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, AL Lickertwat!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Ben Hemmingworth and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rubble checks a low kick from Lickertwat.
Rubble connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Lickertwat momentarily.
Rubble throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Lickertwat counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Lickertwat goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Lickertwat connects with an inside leg kick.
Rubble ducks under a wild hook from Lickertwat.
Lickertwat paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lickertwat.
Lickertwat misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lickertwat wants to control but Rubble is keeping him busy.

Lickertwat creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rubble sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Rubble can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lickertwat controls the pace.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

My spies in Beast II inform me that Lickertwat has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Rubble might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Lickertwat postures up in Rubble's guard and throws a big left but Rubble blocks it.

AL Lickertwat dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rubble misses with an uppercut.
Lickertwat throws a body punch but Rubble moves out of range.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Rubble.
Rubble is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Rubble tries a low kick but Lickertwat avoids it.
Lickertwat's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Rubble connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Lickertwat scrambles back to his feet.
Rubble walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Lickertwat checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Lickertwat throws a series of punches but Rubble avoids them all with ease.
Lickertwat is looking to land body kicks.
Rubble thows a body shot but no joy.
Lickertwat avoids a kick to the body.
Lickertwat throws a lazy right hand but Rubble sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A slapping leg kick lands for Rubble.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Rubble.
Rubble will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rubble rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lickertwat moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lickertwat shoots in looking for a takedown. Rubble tries to sprawl out of it but Lickertwat keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rubble manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lickertwat lands with an uppercut that bounces Rubble off the cage and back into range.
Lickertwat misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lickertwat swings for the body but Rubble moves out of range.
Rubble throws out a loose jab but Lickertwat uses good head movement to avoid it.
Rubble throws a low kick, looking for Lickertwat's leg but Lickertwat calmly moves out of range.

Lickertwat looks to land a right hand but Rubble moved out of range.
Rubble avoids the head kick by Lickertwat.
Rubble throws a big shot that misses.
Lickertwat scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Rubble thuds his shin into the meat of Lickertwat's side.
Rubble throws an overhand right that lands on Lickertwat's shoulder, as Lickertwat tries to avoid the shot.
A nice leg kick lands there from Rubble.

Lickertwat fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Rubble to the ground. Lickertwat is now in Rubble's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rubble wants to sweep but no luck.
Lickertwat cracks Rubble with a solid left hand.
Lickertwat throwing strikes from guard but Rubble blocks nicely.
Rubble pulls Lickertwat in close to prevent any damage.
Rubble is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Lickertwat is in close to Rubble's body, working some short punches and elbows.
AL Lickertwat has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rubble wants to improve his position but instead Lickertwat has moved into half guard.
Lickertwat is trying to control the action in half guard but Rubble is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Lickertwat thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rubble's head.

Lickertwat looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

AL Lickertwat showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


A nice inside leg kick there by Rubble. That's going to slow Lickertwat down.
Rubble throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lickertwat.

Lickertwat lands a really nice looking cross but Rubble seems unphased.
Crunch! Lickertwat slams his shin into Rubble's torso.
Rubble throws a wild body kick that Lickertwat sees coming a mile off.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lickertwat.
Rubble throws a push kick but Lickertwat slaps the foot to one side.
Lickertwat throws a sloppy head kick and Rubble moves out of range easily.
Rubble wants to land a leg kick but Lickertwat is out of range.

Lickertwat scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Barney Rubble has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Rubble does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

and Lickertwat connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Rubble doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Lickertwat misses with a hook.
Rubble looks for the body kick but Lickertwat saw that one coming.
Lickertwat throws a low kick but it's checked well by Rubble.
Lickertwat throws an overhand right that lands on Rubble's shoulder, as Rubble tries to avoid the shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Barney Rubble.
Well Lickertwat has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking AL Lickertwat rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
