Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benito Sobral!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andrew Carter!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter slips a jab from Sobral.

Sobral feints and as Carter raises his hands in defense, Sobral changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Carter keeping moving, preventing Sobral from controlling successfully.
Sobral stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carter swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Carter looking for a guillotine here but Sobral defends easily.

Carter had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Sobral is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Carter Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Sobral's back instead.
Sobral tries to escape but Carter has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Carter throwing damaging strikes from the back! Sobral could be in trouble here!

Sobral defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.

Carter has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Sobral has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Carter looks gassed!
Sobral rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Carter looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Sobral is looking to improve his position.
Sobral slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Carter postures up in Sobral's guard and throws a big left but Sobral blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sobral is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sobral is looking for a triangle but Carter pushes his legs off easily.
Sobral is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sobral seems to be looking for submissions.
Carter is pressing down on Sobral's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Sobral passes into half guard.
Sobral wants to stand up but Carter has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Carter has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Sobral. Oh but Carter has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Sobral goes limp - he's gone! Carter jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Andrew Carter!
