PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cian Chulainn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terry Dance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Terry Dance!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Paul Tew and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chulainn slips a jab and a cross from Dance.
Dance will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dance swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Dance misses with the combination.
Dance misses with the combination.
Dance misses with a series of wild punches.
Dance tries to bum rush Chulainn with a series of wild strikes but Chulainn uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Chulainn feints and as Dance raises his hands in defense, Chulainn changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Dance has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Chulainn off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Dance misses with the combination.
Terry Dance seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dance throws a one two combo.
Dance looks winded!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Chulainn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Dance wants to stand but Chulainn is controlling the position.

Chulainn stands and steps away. Dance gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Chulainn is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Chulainn drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dance manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Chulainn has Dance in his guard.
Dance must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Chulainn has his foot on Dance's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dance works his way back into a safe position though.
Dance wants to stand and escape but instead Chulainn has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Chulainn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Dance wants to get back to his feet but Chulainn is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Chulainn stands and steps away. Dance gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Dance swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Dance misses with a two punch combination.
Dance scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Dance throws a right hand that Chulainn ducks under and follows up with a left that Chulainn also avoids with ease.
Dance misses with a double jab.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Chulainn is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Dance's half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Chulainn in particular looking to stall.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dance tries to kick Chulainn off but Chulainn keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Chulainn is looking to advance position but Dance won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cian Chulainn will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Chulainn shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Chulainn slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Dance wants to stand up but Chulainn is controlling him.

Chulainn gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Dance is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Chulainn is controlling him.

Dance wants to stand and escape but Chulainn is having none of it.

Chulainn drives through with a takedown into Dance's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Chulainn takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Cian Chulainn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Dance is trying to stand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chulainn has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cian Chulainn dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Chulainn closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dance did well to prevent Chulainn getting side control.
Chulainn looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Chulainn wants to take a breather but Dance is having none of it.

Chulainn wants to work for an arm triangle but Dance is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Dance won't allow Chulainn to pass to mount.

Dance throws a series of punches but Chulainn avoids them all with ease.
Dance takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Chulainn throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Dance tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Chulainn is in Dance's guard.
Chulainn chips away with some ground and pound.
Dance is looking to stand up but Chulainn isn't so interested in that idea.
Chulainn keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Dance's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Chulainn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chulainn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Dance is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Chulainn presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Terry Dance is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dance misses with a jab, cross combination.
Dance throws a right and a left that both miss.
Chulainn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Dance lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chulainn circles away quickly and effectively.
Chulainn tried to score with a low kick but Dance checks it.
Dance misses with a double jab.

Chulainn scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Chulainn seems to be looking for submissions.
Chulainn moves nicely into side control.
Dance takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Chulainn staying calm.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chulainn jumps guard and drags Dance to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Dance wants to stand but Chulainn is controlling his posture from full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chulainn, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
