The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Michael Johnstone and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barns misses the shot to the body.
McGuiness's coach down at Elite Training Facility-Steel Penn was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on McGuiness's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
James McGuiness seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Barns takes the fight into the clinch.
McGuiness blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Barns tries for a takedown but McGuiness manages to get underhooks.
Barns tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. McGuiness smiles and moves away.
McGuiness digs a good hook to Barns's body.

Barns uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McGuiness.

Barns closes the distance looking to clinch
and McGuiness counters with a one-two to the body.
Barns swings away with a body shot that misses
and McGuiness counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
McGuiness throws out a loose jab but Barns uses good head movement to avoid it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Barns misses the shot to the body.
Barns is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Barns misses with a lunging right hand
and McGuiness counters with a nice uppercut.
McGuiness throws out a loose jab but Barns uses good head movement to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but James McGuiness will probably get the nod.

Barns looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McGuiness is fending him off so far but Barns persists. Nope, McGuiness circles away and we're back to standing.

Barns with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling McGuiness to score with a decent uppercut.

Barns is looking to clinch but McGuiness is avoiding it.
James McGuiness seems to be getting the better of the standup.

McGuiness looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

McGuiness throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Barns stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
McGuiness loads up on a big right hand but Barns slips the punch.
McGuiness lunges at Barns with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Barns's hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Barns throws a lazy right hand but McGuiness sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Barns swings wildly with an uppercut but McGuiness uses good head movement to avoid it.
Barns stalling the fight.
Barns gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
McGuiness throws a head punch that misses.
McGuiness is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Barns is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McGuiness pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Barns changes levels and goes for a takedown here. McGuiness fights it off and pushes away nicely.

James McGuiness showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

McGuiness takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Barns has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Danny Barns overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McGuiness is looking to regain half guard here but Barns keeps moving and retains side control.

Barns lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
A lull in the action here as Barns stalls from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barns lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear McGuiness down.
McGuiness takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
