Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Stevie Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Layne Staley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hart might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to King Of KIngs. Staley comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Rooster kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stevie Hart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Layne Staley! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Staley throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hart was covering up waiting for the punch and Staley finishes the takedown easily into guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Staley in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Hart has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Hart tries to land a sweep but no joy. Staley is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Staley scoring with some ground and pound. Hart being controlled here, momentarily. Staley trying to control but Hart is working from the bottom. Staley stopping the sweep attempt from Hart. Staley trying to control the position from guard on top but Hart is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Layne Staley has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hart is defended easily by Staley. Hart shoots in for a takedown but Staley shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Hart closes this distance looking for a takedown but Staley circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stevie Hart. That's going to take a lot out of him. Staley fails to land the takedown. Staley rushes Hart and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Staley pulls guard. Staley looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hart is one step ahead there. Hart looking to pass the guard. Staley wants to stand but Hart is controlling the position. Staley trying to control the position here. Hart pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Staley is keeping the position for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Staley trying to keep a closed guard but Hart is proving a slippery customer.

Hart fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Staley has managed to clinch.

Hart really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Staley lands with a light punch inside. Staley has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Hart is trying to keep an underhook but Staley manages to get the takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Staley trying to control from Hart's half guard. Hart has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Staley loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hart wants to sweep here but Staley controlling him for the moment. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Staley cracks Hart with a solid left hand. Staley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hart has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Staley has managed to get both his arms back between Hart's legs - danger averted. Hart is breathing heavily. Hart can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Staley controls the pace. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Staley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Staley controls the pace of the fight for a moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Layne Staley dominated that round. The cut man is working on Stevie Hart's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Staley takes the fight into the clinch. Hart blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Staley blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Hart wants to take the fight to the mat but Staley manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Staley fails to pull guard.
Hart has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Staley clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Staley looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Hart doesn't have the hooks in and Staley manages to turn into his guard.
Hart is looking to stand back up but Staley counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Hart. Hart is not content to let Staley control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hart has hold of Staley's hands but Staley slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Staley is keen to just control but Hart is a slippery customer. Staley seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Hart is staying active underneath Staley, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Staley perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Layne Staley has got the better of the ground game so far. Hart won't allow Staley to pass to mount. Hart is looking for a sweep. Staley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Staley performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Layne Staley wasn't active enough on the ground. Staley darts in looking for a takedown but Hart gets double underhooks and turns Staley into the ropes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Staley misses with a hook to the ribs.
Staley wants to break the clinch but can't.
Hart misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Staley.
Hart goes for a takedown attempt but Staley pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Hart looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hart trying to control but Staley is working from the bottom. Hart passes easily into side control. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Staley regains half guard. Staley makes his way to full guard, as Hart worked for a kimura.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Staley seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Hart stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Staley swivels though and keeps the full guard. Staley thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Staley tries to strike from the bottom.
Hart is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Staley is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Staley has escaped and now he's on top!

Hart postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Staley is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hart, into his guard. Staley trying to control but Hart is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Staley slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Staley is working Hart over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Staley is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Staley wants to control from the top but Hart keeps moving. Staley showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Layne Staley was stalling too much, according to the referee. Hart shoots in looking for a takedown. Staley tries to sprawl out of it but Hart keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Staley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Staley forces Hart back against the ropes and clinches. Staley tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Hart is trying to drag Staley to the mat but Staley just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there. Staley is trying to pull guard but Hart turns him against the ropes and we stay in the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hart has Staley pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Staley manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Staley working some nice short punches in the clinch. Staley has Hart pressed against the ropes, preventing Hart from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Staley decides to pull guard. Staley is pulling down on Hart's head to control his posture. Hart trying to control but Staley is working from the bottom. Staley looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Staley lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hart! Hart on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hart tries to get out of the position. Hart tries to reverse the position but Staley maintains control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hart tries to lock up and control but Staley gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Staley punishing his opponent with strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Staley with shots to the head and body - Hart looks very uncomfortable down there. Staley wants to control the pace but Hart is squirming around nicely. Hart is working to get back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. BOOM! Staley connects with a massive shot to the dome!
And that's the end of the fight! Layne Staley comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Staley has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
