Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jarred Lawson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Derek Killler!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lawson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Killler to the mat! Killler manages to get full guard.
Killler looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Killler has a closed guard, preventing Lawson from standing up.
Lawson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Still in half guard, Lawson seems content to control.
Killler tries to get to full guard but Lawson has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lawson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jarred Lawson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Lawson dives in and grabs Killler's left leg, looking for a takedown. Killler pushes down on Lawson's head and hops out.

Killler throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Lawson escapes and throws Killler's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The referee asks Lawson politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Lawson prefers to stall for the moment though.

Killler bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

My spies in Cozad MMA Rio inform me that Killler has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Lawson is pulling down on Killler's head. It's preventing any offense from Killler, at least for the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lawson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Killler manages to get himself to full guard.

Killler is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lawson defends well.

Lawson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Killler tries to buck Lawson off but Lawson is having none of it.

Killler is trying to work for a sweep but Lawson has mounted him!
Lawson breaks from Killler's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lawson wants to get back to his feet but Killler is holding on tight.

Jarred Lawson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lawson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Lawson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Killler can do to turn this around?

Killler sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Oh but Lawson is tightening it up a little... Killler has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Killler reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Killler taps out! Nice BJJ there by Lawson!
