Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chester Calderon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Kyznetsov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chester Calderon has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chester Calderon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Kyznetsov!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jonathan Paton and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kyznetsov fails with the takedown

and Calderon counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kyznetsov won't be happy with that.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Calderon working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Calderon in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Calderon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Calderon creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Calderon tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Kyznetsov is trying to work for a sweep but Calderon has mounted him!
Kyznetsov tries to control the position but Calderon now has his back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Calderon wants to sweep here but Kyznetsov controlling him for the moment.
Calderon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kyznetsov on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Calderon closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Kyznetsov is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Calderon to keep the fight standing.

Kyznetsov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Calderon cracks Kyznetsov with a right hand to the side of the head.
Kyznetsov tries to clinch but Calderon is having none of it.

Calderon has managed to clinch.
Kyznetsov misses with a hook from the clinch.
Calderon fails to pull guard.
Kyznetsov jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Calderon walks away with a smile on his face. Kyznetsov gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Chester Calderon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Kyznetsov.
Kyznetsov is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Calderon thows a body shot but no joy.

Kyznetsov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Calderon on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Calderon tries to get out of the position.

That was a close round but I would say that Chester Calderon will probably get the nod.
That's time! Calderon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kyznetsov throws a sloppy head kick and Calderon moves out of range easily.
Calderon stuffs the takedown attempt from Kyznetsov. Kyznetsov gets slowly back to his feet.

Calderon drives through and clinches with Kyznetsov against the cage.

Calderon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Chester Calderon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Calderon shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Calderon showed some decent athleticism there.

Calderon uses his free foot to push down on Kyznetsov's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kyznetsov.

Chester Calderon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Calderon doesn't have the hooks in and Kyznetsov manages to turn into his guard.

Kyznetsov drops back, looking for a kneebar! Calderon looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Calderon looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Calderon!
Calderon is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Calderon is looking to take a break and control but Kyznetsov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kyznetsov sneaks back into half guard.
Calderon passes into side control, despite Kyznetsov's attempt to control the position.

Kyznetsov is looking to regain half guard here but Calderon keeps moving and retains side control.

Kyznetsov wants to control but Calderon postures up.
A lull in the action here as Calderon stalls from top position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Calderon connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kyznetsov some visible discomfort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chester Calderon dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Kyznetsov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Calderon doesn't manage to clinch there - Kyznetsov circles away.
Calderon leaves Kyznetsov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Calderon manages to pull guard.

Calderon working for a triangle but Kyznetsov defends it easily.
Kyznetsov wants to control from the top but Calderon keeps moving.

Kyznetsov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Calderon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Calderon has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Kyznetsov is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Calderon.

Kyznetsov is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Calderon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Kyznetsov has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

and Calderon counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Calderon.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kyznetsov has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Calderon has passed into side control.
Calderon remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Calderon misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Chester Calderon is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kyznetsov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Calderon as he avoids it easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chester Calderon showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Calderon has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
