Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Waldo Macdonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cole Joseph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cole Joseph has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Waldo Macdonald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cole Joseph!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Dean Styles and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Joseph shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Macdonald manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Joseph slips nicely into half guard.
Joseph performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Joseph is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Macdonald defends it well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Joseph looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Macdonald with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Joseph has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Joseph is taking a breather. Macdonald says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Joseph takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Let's hope that Joseph has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Cole Joseph hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Macdonald is trying hard to land a takedown here. Joseph sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Macdonald tries to escape but Joseph has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Cole Joseph.

Joseph moves into range and clinches up with Macdonald.

Macdonald stops a takedown attempt from Joseph.

Joseph manages to pull guard.

Macdonald has gone for a leg lock! Joseph slips out almost immediately though and dives into Macdonald's guard.

Joseph drops back looking for a leg! Macdonald is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Macdonald manages to kick Joseph off! Joseph jumps back into Macdonald's guard.

Joseph tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Joseph has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Joseph wants to lay and pray for a moment but Macdonald keeps working.

Cole Joseph showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Macdonald misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Joseph fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Macdonald, pushing him back against the cage.
A bit of stalling here from Joseph.

Joseph is trying to trip Macdonald. He has hold of a leg but Macdonald is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Joseph persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Macdonald is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Joseph is trying to maintain the position but Macdonald is very close to passing his half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Joseph can do anything to dispel that myth.

Joseph bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Macdonald's guard.

Macdonald throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Macdonald knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Joseph on the ground.

Joseph lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Macdonald!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Joseph breaks from Macdonald's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Cole Joseph comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Joseph has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
