The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sonny goes for a double leg but Swing avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Swing continues to drive forward. Swing has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Swing is trying to push Sonny away but Sonny has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Sonny fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Sonny drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Swing is looking to regain half guard here but Sonny keeps moving and retains side control.
