Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hipolito Spence (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Handerson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Dan Handerson enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hipolito Spence! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dan Handerson! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Anthony Taglia and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Handerson moves into range and clinches up with Spence. Spence tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Handerson smiles and moves away.
Handerson clinches up against the cage. Handerson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Spence has taken the fight to the clinch.
Handerson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Spence darts in trying to clinch and Handerson counters with a two punch combo. Spence tries to clinch but Handerson moves out of range. Handerson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Spence, pushing him back against the cage. Spence jumps guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Spence keeping full guard, as Handerson tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Handerson wants to control from the top but Spence keeps moving. Spence could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Spence has Handerson pulled in close to control his posture. Spence manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Handerson moves into the clinch. Spence decides to pull guard. Handerson throws a big right hand that misses. Spence is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Handerson is controlling him. Spence has Handerson pulled in close to control his posture. Handerson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Spence is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Handerson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Handerson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Spence looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Spence has one of Handerson's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage. Handerson wants to stand but Spence is controlling his arm. Spence throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Handerson has Spence up against the cage in a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spence tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Handerson smiles and moves away.
Spence tries to clinch but fails miserably and Handerson counters by clinching up. Spence jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Handerson walks away with a smile on his face. Spence gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hipolito Spence. That's going to take a lot out of him. Spence darts in trying to clinch and Handerson counters with a lovely shot to the body. Handerson pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Handerson rushes Spence and presses him up against the cage. Handerson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Spence uses from the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Spence prevents Handerson from getting back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Handerson working a defensive guard but Spence manages to pass into side control anyway.
Handerson tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Spence presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Handerson looks winded! Handerson is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Spence locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Handerson is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hipolito Spence!
