Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joe Ruden!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Kavanagh and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruden fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Nice shot lands for Murray.
A jab from Murray finds it's way through Ruden's defenses.
Murray lands a body shot.
Murray lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Ruden slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ruden has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Ruden throws an overhand right that lands on Murray's shoulder, as Murray tries to avoid the shot.
Murray has been working on his boxing with his coaches at ELITE GYM 40CAP in the buildup to the fight.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ruden seems to be working for a kimura but Murray defends the submission attempt.

Murray is in trouble now - Ruden has advanced to mount!
Ruden tries to control but Murray wriggling away.
Ruden thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Ruden with shots to the head and body - Murray looks very uncomfortable down there.
Ruden tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Let's hope that Ruden has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Ruden can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Murray is looking to escape.
Ruden is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Ruden throws some wild stikes that Murray manages to avoid easily.
Murray is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Ruden swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Murray is now in Ruden's guard. A big mistake from Ruden there, giving up the dominant position!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Ruden dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Murray comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Murray gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Ruden.
Murray misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ruden.
Lee Murray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Murray rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ruden moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A combination from Ruden does no damage.
Murray throws out a loose jab but Ruden uses good head movement to avoid it.
Ruden tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Murray swivels and escapes.
Murray darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ruden.

The strikes coming from Ruden are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Ruden cracks Murray with a big elbow.

The ground and pound from Ruden seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Ruden wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Murray, who protects the arm well.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Ruden with the ground and pound but Murray regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Ruden passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Murray!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Joe Ruden has got the better of the ground game so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Murray tries to lock up and control but Ruden gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Ruden trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Ruden is landing with some decent strikes but Murray is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Murray is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ruden controlling the pace for now.
Ruden throwing strikes here but Murray is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Murray tries to hold on but Ruden postures up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ruden postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Murray is out cold - huge knockout for Ruden!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Joe Ruden!
Joe Ruden is the new light heavyweight champion!
A very excited looking Joe Ruden made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
Lee Murray was interviewed post fight and said 'Figured counter takedown would decide this fight, oh well, losing a little interest these days.'.
