PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Robert Schillig (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dastan Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schillig comes to the cage accompanied by Ali Bomaye - The Game. The key to victory for Robert Schillig has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Robert Schillig!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dastan Drake!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Jorge Garcia and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schillig falls off balance throwing a combination

and Drake counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Schillig is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Drake is controlling him.
Drake stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schillig swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Drake is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Schillig defends it well.

Schillig pushes Drake off looking to stand but Drake dives back in and keeps control.

Schillig knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Drake on the ground.

Drake wants to work for an arm triangle but Schillig is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Drake uses his free foot to push down on Schillig's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Schillig.

Drake is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Schillig has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Schillig!
Drake is controlling Schillig's posture.
Drake lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Schillig!

Drake lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Schillig defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Drake.

Drake wants to finish this one by submission but Schillig is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Drake.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Schillig wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Drake accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Drake stands and throws Schillig's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Drake scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Schillig to see if he's OK.


Robert Schillig's cut is getting worse.
Drake lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Schillig down.

Drake fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Drake is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Schillig looks calm but he's in trouble here. Drake gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Schillig is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Drake lets go of the hold and Schillig can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dastan Drake!
