Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yoshi Doi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daisuke Numazawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshi Doi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daisuke Numazawa!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Sano and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Numazawa shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Doi manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Numazawa lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Numazawa missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Doi wants to stand but Numazawa is controlling the position.
Doi wants to sweep here but Numazawa controlling him for the moment.
Numazawa stops Doi from standing up.
Doi seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Numazawa tries to free his leg and advance position but Doi is retaining full guard.
Numazawa seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Numazawa is trying to work for a kimura but Doi is defending well.

Doi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Numazawa is working away from the top position though.

Our spies down at at Lock and Roll Grappling Gym inform us that Numazawa has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

The ref stands the fighters back up. Yoshi Doi wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Numazawa wants to take the fight to the mat but Doi manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Yoshi Doi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daisuke Numazawa.

Doi turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Doi manages to end up in side control.
Numazawa is looking for a sweep.

Doi has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Sloppy strikes from Numazawa. Those never looked like landing.
Doi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Numazawa swivels and escapes.
Yoshi Doi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Doi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Numazawa manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Numazawa tries to score with a low kick but Doi moves his leg out of the way.
Numazawa throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Doi counters with a head kick.
Doi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Numazawa tries to avoid it but Doi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Numazawa to the ground. Numazawa escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Daisuke Numazawa will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Doi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Doi is looking to slow Numazawa down with leg kicks.
Doi avoids the head kick by Numazawa.
Doi fails with a takedown attempt.
Numazawa shoots in looking for a takedown. Doi tries to sprawl out of it but Numazawa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Doi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Numazawa will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Doi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Numazawa sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Doi somewhat.

Numazawa is looking to cinch up a triangle. Doi throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Numazawa's body to avoid the submission. Numazawa has instead reached around Doi's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Numazawa arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
