The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mario tries to clinch up.
Perru looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Perru fails with a takedown attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mario is defended easily by Perru.
Perru stuffs the takedown.
A head kick misses from Mario.
Mario misses with a head kick.

Some wild striking there from Mario.
Mario throws out a leg kick but Perru moves out of range and Mario only half commits.
Mario dives in and grabs Perru's left leg, looking for a takedown. Perru pushes down on Mario's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mario Mario. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mario shoots in for a takedown but Perru shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Perru takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Perru displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mario.
Mario tries for a takedown but Perru circles away easily

so Perru counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Mario is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Perru must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Mario is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Perru frees his head nicely. Oh but Mario has switched to an armbar! Perru is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
