Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Guy Fil! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Osar Gutierrez Gutierrez! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gutierrez looking for a takedown here - he's got it. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Gutierrez advances position into side control! Gutierrez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fil is letting Gutierrez control him for a moment. It looks like Gutierrez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Fil is pushing Gutierrez's head away, looking to escape. Gutierrez manages to hold on to the position though. Gutierrez trying to control the position but Fil is working away. Gutierrez is trying to get an arm triangle but Fil is defending well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gutierrez is looking to take a break and control but Fil is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gutierrez working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Gutierrez trying to control the action but Fil is working from the bottom. Fil is trying to get back to half guard. Fil struggling a bit here. Gutierrez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gutierrez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Gutierrez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Fil has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fil tries to bench press Gutierrez off him but Gutierrez keeps the position. Fil is trying to control Gutierrez's posture but Gutierrez avoids it. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Fil is letting Gutierrez control him for a moment. Gutierrez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fil knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gutierrez in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Fil is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
