The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Da Gaucho tries to keep at a distance but Garcia has taken the fight into the clinch.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Garcia pulls Da Gaucho in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Da Gaucho wants to control from the top but Garcia keeps moving.

Da Gaucho drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Da Gaucho jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Garcia has his foot on Da Gaucho's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Da Gaucho works his way back into a safe position though.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Garcia can do anything to dispel that myth.

Garcia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Da Gaucho. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Garcia is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Da Gaucho is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Garcia wants to control from the top but Da Gaucho keeps moving.

Da Gaucho is working for a guillotine from mount but Garcia frees his head quite easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Da Gaucho avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Garcia tries to close the distance and clinch up but Da Gaucho swats him away and circles back towards the center.
