PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazaki Fujita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fujita comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Metallica-Enter Sandman kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Aaron Smith has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Aaron Smith seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Aaron Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kazaki Fujita!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fujita drives through and clinches with Smith against the cage.

Fujita breaks from the clinch.
Smith shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fujita pinned against the cage. Fujita gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Fujita shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Smith defends it nicely.
Fujita misses with an uppercut.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Fujita pulls guard effortlessly.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Smith postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fujita holds on and takes a little breather.

Kazaki Fujita has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Aaron Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kazaki Fujita.

Smith throws a right and a left that Fujita avoids nicely.
Smith throws a nice looking combination but Fujita bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Fujita shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense.

Fujita shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Smith is trying to defend but Fujita finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fujita seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Fujita has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at TAP ROOT -/- 10 Coaches / Great Sparring / Value. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Fujita looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Fujita wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smith keeps working.

Fujita is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Smith is just riding it out for now. Fujita eventually gives up the hold.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fujita gets to mount! Smith was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Fujita lands a big elbow.
Fujita controlling the pace for now.
Smith really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith is working hard here to advance position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kazaki Fujita dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Smith looks to land a combination but Fujita avoids it well.

Fujita closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Smith did well to prevent Fujita getting side control.

Smith is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Kazaki Fujita has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fujita slips a nice elbow through Smith's hands, connecting with Smith's forehead.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fujita perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Smith gets back to full guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Fujita's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Fujita keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Smith's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fujita scoring with some ground and pound.
Fujita postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Smith covers up, he's hurt! Fujita keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Fujita and the ref steps in to end the fight! Fujita can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kazaki Fujita!
An out of breath Kazaki Fujita thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
