Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Waldo Macdonald! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brendan Cone! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Joseph Jones and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Macdonald avoids the head kick by Cone.
Cone tries a head kick but it misses.
Macdonald lands a jab-cross combination. Macdonald tries to sprawl but Cone drives through with a takedown into half guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Cone working the head and body with strikes. Cone wants to pass to mount but Macdonald is defending the position. Macdonald is staying active underneath Cone, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Macdonald has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cone is working away from the top position though. Cone wants to free his trapped foot but Macdonald is holding on for dear life with his legs. Macdonald has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Cone escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Cone! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cone just content to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cone trying to control the position but Macdonald is working away. A lull in the action here. Cone wants to control but Macdonald is keeping him busy. Macdonald is being controlled here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cone wants to lay and pray for a moment but Macdonald keeps working.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Brendan Cone hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Cone misses with a double jab.
Cone scores with a takedown into Macdonald's guard. Macdonald has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Cone off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Cone closes this distance looking for a takedown but Macdonald circles away. Cone fails with a takedown attempt. Cone keeps the fight on the outside.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cone pushes Macdonald up against the cage in a clinch. Cone drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Waldo Macdonald has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brendan Cone. Cone is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Cone has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Macdonald regains guard immediately. Cone drops back looking for a leg! Macdonald is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Macdonald manages to kick Cone off! Cone jumps back into Macdonald's guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Cone trying to control but Macdonald is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Macdonald looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Cone is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cone stands and throws Macdonald's legs to the side, diving into side control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cone stands up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brendan Cone dominated that round. That's time! Macdonald's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Cone closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Cone controlling the action here. Cone thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Cone is trying to control. Macdonald wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Cone working Macdonald over with strikes. Brendan Cone has got the better of the ground game so far. Cone not doing much here.

Cone wants to lay and pray for a moment but Macdonald keeps working. Macdonald is being controlled here. Macdonald tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cone cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cone looking to control but Macdonald is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Cone content just to control the position here. Cone trying to control but he's not successful this time. Cone goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Macdonald is on top in guard.
Cone tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cone wants to stand up but Macdonald is controlling him. Cone wants to sweep here but Macdonald controlling him for the moment. Cone has Macdonald pulled in close to control his posture. Macdonald is looking to advance position but Cone has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Cone is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Macdonald to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Macdonald shrugs it off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cone punishing his opponent with strikes. Cone looking to control and managing it successfully. Cone landing shots from mount. Cone looking to control but Macdonald is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cone dominating with strikes here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brendan Cone showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Cone tries to clinch but Macdonald is having none of it. Cone fails with a takedown attempt. Cone defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Macdonald. Cone misses with an uppercut. Cone clinches. Cone tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Macdonald on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Cone tries to pull guard but Macdonald holds him up against the cage and eventually Cone drops back down to his feet.
Waldo Macdonald has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brendan Cone. Cone breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Macdonald misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Waldo Macdonald is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cone gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Cone wants to get back to his feet but Macdonald is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Cone trying to control the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Brendan Cone hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Cone scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Cone has hold of Macdonald's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Macdonald tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Cone cranks the arm and Macdonald screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Macdonald, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Brendan Cone! A relieved looking Brendan Cone thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
