Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Julio Ricardo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jim Beam! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Santiago Holmes and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Beam scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Ricardo is trying to control but can't.
Beam throwing shots but Ricardo is blocking nicely. Beam slips a nice elbow through Ricardo's hands, connecting with Ricardo's forehead. Beam throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Beam seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Beam is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Beam is thwarting Ricardo's attempts to control the position. Ricardo on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Beam working over Ricardo with some ground and pound. Ricardo looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Beam throwing shots but Ricardo is blocking nicely. Beam lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Beam landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Beam wants to pass to mount but Ricardo is defending the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice strikes from Beam there. Beam seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Beam lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Beam winds up and cracks Ricardo with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Beam passes to full mount! Ricardo taking shots to the head. Beam landing strikes, looking to finish! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Beam lands a heavy elbow. Ricardo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Beam on the ground. Beam has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ricardo's face.
Beam breaks from Ricardo's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Ricardo is rocked! Ricardo is breathing heavily. Oooooh, big shot lands for Beam! Ricardo is hurt baaadly! Beam is firing away with more strikes - Ricardo is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
