PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Ditka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luiz Araujo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Araujo is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Who Shot Ya?. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Ditka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Luiz Araujo!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Araujo uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ditka has time to react.

Ditka drives through with a takedown into Araujo's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Ditka looks up at the clock and then as Araujo takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Ditka smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
A lull in the action here as Ditka stalls from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Araujo takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Araujo can't do much from the bottom here.

Araujo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ditka wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Araujo manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Ditka looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Araujo is working for a kimura but Ditka is defending it quite comfortably.
Ditka is controlling Araujo's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Ditka's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Mike Ditka wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Ditka thows a body shot but no joy.
Ditka uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Araujo.

Ditka shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Araujo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Araujo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ditka defends it easily.

Araujo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Araujo controls Ditka momentarily but Ditka frees himself.

Ditka is in close to Araujo's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Ditka makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Ditka knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Araujo on the ground.

Araujo is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Araujo has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ditka is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Araujo.

That was a close round but I would say that Mike Ditka will probably get the nod.

Luiz Araujo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sloppy strikes from Araujo. Those never looked like landing.
Araujo tries for a takedown but Ditka sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Ditka shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Araujo throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Ditka escapes and throws Araujo's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Araujo tries to buck Ditka off but Ditka is having none of it.
