Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Uncle Bob! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Paul Thompson! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bob feints and as Thompson raises his hands in defense, Bob changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bob's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Thompson wants to get back to his feet but Bob is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bob is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Bob preventing the sweep. Bob might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Thompson looking to control.
Thompson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Bob working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Bob has gone for a leg lock! Thompson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bob's guard. Bob working a defensive guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bob looking for a guillotine here but Thompson defends easily.
Bob tries to land a sweep but no joy. Thompson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Bob trying to control the position.
Thompson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bob is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Bob wants to stand but Thompson is controlling the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Paul Thompson. Bob takes a swing at Thompson's ribcage but misses. Bob misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Bob misses with a straight right. Bob looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Bob lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Thompson backs up against the cage.
It looks like Paul Thompson has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bob gets the takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thompson manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Thompson is trying to stand back up but Bob is controlling him
Bob prevents Thompson from improving his position. Bob keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Thompson wants to get back to his feet.
Bob maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Thompson could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Bob has cracked it and Thompson is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Bob!
