The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcfarland closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mcfarland lands in his opponent's guard.
Blue looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Mcfarland would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Mcfarland knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Blue on the ground.

Blue manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mcfarland manages to get himself to full guard.

Mcfarland closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Vernon Mcfarland will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Blue throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mcfarland.

Mcfarland drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Mcfarland wants to work for an arm triangle but Blue is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Blue tries to get to full guard but Mcfarland has control of the leg.

Mcfarland is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Blue is just riding it out for now. Mcfarland eventually gives up the hold.

Blue felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Blue quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Mcfarland has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Blue celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
