Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lance Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terry Mcdermott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcdermott has chosen Broken Wings as his entrance music. Lance Stevens could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Terry Mcdermott's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lance Stevens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Terry Mcdermott! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mcdermott drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Stevens misses the shot to the body. Stevens throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mcdermott counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Stevens! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Mcdermott wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stevens, who protects the arm well. Stevens is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mcdermott asserts his dominance and retains side control. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Mcdermott working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Mcdermott tries to advance to mount but Stevens denies him. Stevens is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mcdermott working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Mcdermott tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Mcdermott thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Stevens's head. Mcdermott sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Stevens defending well though. Stevens is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Predator Training Center (9 Elite Coaches), so we'll see if he gets out of it. Mcdermott is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stevens looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Stevens utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Mcdermott stops Stevens from standing up. Mcdermott slips nicely into half guard. Mcdermott throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stevens is pressing down on Mcdermott's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Stevens looking for a sweep. Not yet Stevens, not yet. Mcdermott postures up in Stevens's guard and throws a big left but Stevens blocks it. Mcdermott sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Stevens's guard. Mcdermott is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Stevens defends it well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Stevens preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Mcdermott throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mcdermott is working for a submission of some sort.

Terry Mcdermott dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Mcdermott looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Stevens throws a body punch but Mcdermott moves out of range. Stevens swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Mcdermott. Stevens moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Mcdermott takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Stevens misses with a hook. Mcdermott ducked under it nicely. Stevens lands a jab to Mcdermott's midsection. Stevens misses with a left hand so Mcdermott counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This has been an exciting period of action! Mcdermott drops back, looking for a kneebar! Stevens looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Stevens looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Stevens! Stevens throwing shots but missing, from side control. Terry Mcdermott has got the better of the ground game so far. Mcdermott gets back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stevens stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Mcdermott to get to his feet. Mcdermott ducks right into an uppercut from Stevens. Stevens lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Stevens swings away with a body shot that misses
and Mcdermott counters with a shoot takedown. Stevens fights it but they end up in guard. Mcdermott throws a big right hand that misses. Stevens working a defensive guard here.
Mcdermott stands up over Stevens, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mcdermott stopping the sweep attempt from Stevens. Stevens is pulling down on Mcdermott's head. It's preventing any offense from Mcdermott, at least for the moment.

Mcdermott drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Stevens manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mcdermott has Stevens in his guard. Stevens has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Mcdermott has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stevens can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Mcdermott has a closed guard, preventing Stevens from standing up. Mcdermott is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Stevens loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Mcdermott is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

A close second round but Terry Mcdermott will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Mcdermott isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Stevens stacks Mcdermott on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Stevens!

Stevens comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Stevens defends it well. Stevens tries to roll over but Mcdermott keeps him under control.
