The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masqual fails to land the takedown.
Masqual keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Laiskiainen.
Laiskiainen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Masqual pinned against the cage. Masqual gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Masqual slips a jab from Laiskiainen.
Masqual misses with a series of wild punches.
Laiskiainen tries to clinch up but Masqual circles away and keeps his distance.
Laiskiainen tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Laiskiainen cracks Masqual with an uppercut from hell and Masqual crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Laiskiainen's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
It looks like Bennito Masqual has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Masqual is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Laiskiainen wants to stand but Masqual is controlling his posture from full guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Masqual swings for the body but Laiskiainen moves out of range.
Laiskiainen has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Masqual finds it's way round the side to connect with Laiskiainen's head.

Pauli Laiskiainen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Masqual counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Masqual looks to land a combination but Laiskiainen avoids it well.

Masqual shoots for a double leg takedown but Laiskiainen sprawls well. He's pushed Masqual's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Laiskiainen throws out a loose jab but Masqual uses good head movement to avoid it.

Masqual is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Masqual preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Masqual makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Masqual.
Masqual is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Masqual manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Laiskiainen manages to get himself to full guard.
Masqual slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pauli Laiskiainen dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Masqual throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pauli Laiskiainen seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Masqual tries to bum rush Laiskiainen with a series of wild strikes but Laiskiainen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Masqual throws a right hand that Laiskiainen ducks under and follows up with a left that Laiskiainen also avoids with ease.
Laiskiainen wants to clinch
and Masqual counters with a left and a right that stings Laiskiainen.
Masqual feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Laiskiainen is breathing heavily.

Masqual stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Laiskiainen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Laiskiainen throws a right and a left that Masqual avoids nicely.
