PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Oquendo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Tyson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Последний О. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Tyson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Oquendo!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyson throws a head kick but Oquendo moves out of range.
Oquendo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Oquendo throws a leg kick but Tyson sees it coming and moves out of range.

Tyson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Tyson wants to get back to his feet.
Tyson uses his free foot to push down on Oquendo's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Oquendo.
Tyson is trying to control here but Oquendo has managed to regain half guard.

Tyson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Oquendo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tyson.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Tyson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Oquendo tries to kick Tyson off but Tyson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Oquendo trying to get back to full guard but Tyson takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Oquendo is desperately trying to improve his position but Tyson has a good base and remains in mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tyson is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Tyson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jose Oquendo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Oquendo.
Tyson lands a slapping body shot.
Tyson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Oquendo.
Oquendo throws a leg kick that is checked
and Tyson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Oquendo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Tyson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mike Tyson wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Tyson clobbers Oquendo with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Oquendo is breathing heavily.

Tyson shoots in but no luck this time.
Tyson lands a really nice looking cross but Oquendo seems unphased.
Oquendo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nice takedown defense from Oquendo. No joy for Tyson on that attempt.

It looks like Jose Oquendo has been cut.
Tyson shoots in for a double leg but Oquendo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Crunch! Tyson slams his shin into Oquendo's torso.
Tyson closes the distance and clinches up with Oquendo, looking for a takedown. Tyson pushes Oquendo against the cage but Oquendo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Oquendo gets caught flat footed, as Tyson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Tyson gets to his feet - Oquendo follows without any prompting.

Tyson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Oquendo swivels and escapes.
Tyson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Oquendo throws a sloppy head kick and Tyson moves out of range easily.

Tyson dives in and scores a takedown into Oquendo's guard.
Tyson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Oquendo moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Tyson decides to stand and escape the position.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Oquendo in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Oquendo slaps away a takedown attempt from Tyson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Oquendo takes a swing at Tyson's ribcage but misses.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Tyson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Oquendo is fending him off so far but Tyson persists. Nope, Oquendo circles away and we're back to standing.

Mike Tyson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Oquendo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Oquendo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Tyson throws a nice inside leg kick.
Oquendo is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Tyson rather than just go for the knockout.
Oquendo takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Tyson! Oquendo is out on his feet! Tyson rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Oquendo is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Oquendo is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Tyson!
Our winner, Mike Tyson, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
