The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chabal gets caught napping as Sax dives in and scores a takedown. Chabal manages to retain guard.
Chabal has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Orlando Sax hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Sax throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Chabal was covering up waiting for the punch and Sax finishes the takedown easily into guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Sax decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chabal's guard.
Sax is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Sax passes Chabal's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Sax is pressing down on Chabal's thigh, looking to free his foot. Chabal is holding on for now.
Sax wants to take a breather but Chabal is having none of it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sax looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Chabal with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Sax working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Sax is nestled in close to Chabal, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

It looks like Sebastien Chabal has been cut.
Sax sitting in half guard here. He lands a big elbow that has hurt Chabal! Oh, Chabal is in big trouble! Sax lands more strikes and the ref dives in to save him! The fight is over!
