Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Delano Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Olson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Thompson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to New York. Olson has chosen Xzibit - Get your walk on as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Delano Thompson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kevin Olson!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Eddie Farnsworth and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Thompson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Olson misses with the combination.
Thompson fails with a takedown attempt.
Olson moves in looking to clinch but Thompson pushes him off.
Olson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Olson wants it to stay on the feet.
Olson connects with a body shot that sends Thompson's belly button to the back.
We've been hearing reports that Thompson has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
A decent looking cross lands there for Olson.
Olson looks to land a combination but Thompson avoids it well.
Sloppy strikes from Olson. Those never looked like landing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Horrible takedown by Olson or perhaps it was just good defense by Thompson which made him look bad.

Thompson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Olson's guard.

Thompson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Thompson wants to pass the guard but Olson is keeping the position.

Olson working for a triangle but Thompson defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Olson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thompson postures up and lands a big shot to Olson's brow.

Olson wants to get back to his feet but Thompson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Thompson drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Thompson as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Olson screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Thompson! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Delano Thompson!
After the fight, Delano Thompson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
