PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gim Ruut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Garrett Bisley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruut comes to the cage accompanied by The Trooper - Iron Maiden. Bisley has chosen Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gim Ruut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Garrett Bisley!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bisley throws a series of punches but Ruut moves out of range.
Bisley uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ruut.
Ruut cracks Bisley with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Bisley looks to score with a jab to the body but Ruut is just out of range.
Bisley will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ruut closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Ruut misses with a takedown attempt - Bisley sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Bisley tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ruut was well out of range. Poor timing from Bisley.
Bisley throws a hook but Ruut blocks it.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Ruut goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Bisley has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ruut but great work by Bisley.
Bisley looks up at the clock and then as Ruut takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Bisley smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Bisley wants to control but Ruut is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bisley throws a strike aimed at the side of Ruut's head but Ruut avoids it well.

Bisley uses his free foot to push down on Ruut's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ruut.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Ruut's jab looks to have found its range, popping Bisley under the eye.

Bisley bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bisley throws a strike aimed at the side of Ruut's head but Ruut avoids it well.
Bisley scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Ruut to see if he's OK.

Ruut is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Garrett Bisley has got the better of the ground game so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bisley stands up over Ruut, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Bisley keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ruut's head.
Bisley is working Ruut over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Bisley stays in close to Ruut's body and controls the position.
Bisley wants to control from the top but Ruut keeps moving.

Ruut is looking for a triangle but Bisley pushes his legs off easily.

Ruut has an active guard here but Bisley has managed to pass into half guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bisley seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ruut does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Bisley working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Garrett Bisley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Ruut stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bisley swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ruut is in close to Bisley's body, working some short punches and elbows.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ruut is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bisley is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bisley has escaped and now he's on top!

Bisley stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Ruut has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Bisley manages to get his head free but now Ruut has transitioned to an armbar! Bisley grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Ruut! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gim Ruut!
Gim Ruut bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
