Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Roderick Woodward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Broken English (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Broken English is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roderick Woodward!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Broken English!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Skip Squint and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
English tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Woodward swivels and escapes.
English darts in looking for a takedown but Woodward gets double underhooks and turns English into the cage.
English lands an elbow just above Woodward 's eye.
English is trying to force a seperation but Woodward has the dominant position.
English jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Woodward walks away with a smile on his face. English gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Roderick Woodward has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Broken English.

English moves into the clinch.
Woodward tries to score a body lock takedown but English shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Woodward tries for a takedown but English manages to get underhooks.
English jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Woodward walks away with a smile on his face. English gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Woodward takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

English pushes Woodward up against the cage in a clinch.
English is trying to pull guard but Woodward has him pressed against the cage.

English fails to pull guard.
Woodward stalling in the clinch.

Woodward pulls guard.
English is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
English throws an elbow that misses. Woodward uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in English's guard. Nice move by Woodward!
English is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Woodward throwing strikes from guard but English blocks nicely.

English is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
English is trying to keep Woodward in close.
English utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

English escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Woodward gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

English tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Woodward is looking to work some ground and pound but English has wrist control.

Woodward has gone for a leg lock! English slips out almost immediately though and dives into Woodward's guard.
English scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Woodward keeping full guard, as English tries to pass.
Woodward lands a good elbow from the bottom.

English gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Woodward really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
English gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Woodward counters with a left and a right that stings English.
A looping hook to the body misses from English. Woodward does a little dance to reset his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Some wild striking there from English.

English has Woodward up against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Broken English dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


English swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

English closes the distance and clinches.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Woodward.
English tries to throw a body punch but Woodward avoids it by throwing English back against the cage.
Woodward is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
English jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Woodward walks away with a smile on his face. English gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Woodward tries to clinch but English moves out of range.
Roderick Woodward is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

English fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Woodward, pushing him back against the cage.
English can't get the takedown.

Woodward tries to work over English's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Woodward tries a body shot but English blocks it.

Woodward lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Woodward throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
English looks like he's trying to stand up.

Woodward is looking for a kimura here.
English is looking to control Woodward's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can English avoid being mounted?

English keeping control of the position.
Woodward is trying to control the action in half guard but English is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
English desperately trying to maintain half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Broken English has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Woodward gets caught napping as English dives in and scores a takedown. Woodward manages to retain guard.

Woodward looking for a guillotine here but English defends easily.
Woodward keeping full guard, as English tries to pass.

English postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Broken English has got the better of the ground game so far.
English forces his way into half guard.
Woodward is refusing to be controlled, as English sits in half guard.
English works his way into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Broken English showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

English gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
English wants to control from the top but Woodward keeps moving.
English scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
English looking to pass the guard.

Woodward wants to sweep here but English controlling him for the moment.
Woodward keeping full guard, as English tries to pass.
English wants to stand but Woodward has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Broken English.

English instigates a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
English tries to pull guard but Woodward forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

English pulls guard.
English is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Woodward with a flurry of punches that miss.
Woodward landing with the ground and pound.
Woodward will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
English wants to control but Woodward passes easily into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
English is looking to improve his position.
Woodward slips a nice elbow through English's hands, connecting with English's forehead.
English trying to get back to full guard but Woodward takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Woodward in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
English regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

English looks like he's trying to stand up.
English takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
English wants to control but Woodward passes into side.
Woodward wants to control but English is keeping him busy.
Woodward misses with the ground and pound.

And that's the end of the fight!
Broken English comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well English has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
