PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Blimm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crazy Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dog has chosen Zombie as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bobby Blimm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Crazy Dog!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Alexandre Firmino and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dog looks to throw the jab but Blimm is out of range.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Dog has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Dog will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Dog looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Blimm is fending him off so far but Dog persists. Nope, Blimm circles away and we're back to standing.
Blimm has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Franklin D. Bluth Memorial Supergym in the buildup to the fight.
Blimm throws a right and a left that Dog avoids nicely.
Dog just misses with a punch to the body.

Blimm tries to sprawl but Dog drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Dog wants to control but Blimm is keeping him busy.
Blimm holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Blimm is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Dog's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Dog's back!

Blimm has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Dog has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Dog tries to break free.

Blimm tries to keep control of the position but Dog is staying busy.
Dog tries to escape but Blimm has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Dog breaks Blimm's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Dog slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Dog wants to lay and pray for a moment but Blimm keeps working.

Dog wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Blimm, who protects the arm well.
Blimm is looking to reverse the position.

You can see the frustration on Blimm's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Dog tries for a kimura but Blimm is defending well.
Blimm might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Blimm regains half guard.

Dog is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Blimm doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dog.

Dog is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Blimm looks like he's trying to stand up.
Dog controlling the action here.
Dog throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dog wants to lay and pray for a moment but Blimm keeps working.
Blimm is looking to improve his position.

Dog is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Blimm is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dog pulls his head out easily.
Dog trying to mount his opponent but Blimm defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blimm slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Blimm tries to bum rush Dog with a series of wild strikes but Dog uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Dog throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Blimm on the side of the head.
Blimm misses with a jab, cross combination.
Blimm walks into a straight right hand from Dog.

Dog throws a big shot that misses.
Nice takedown defense from Blimm. No joy for Dog on that attempt.

and Dog counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Blimm tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dog swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sloppy strikes from Blimm. Those never looked like landing.
Dog connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Blimm takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Blimm takes one on the chin but seems OK.


Blimm is rocked!
Bobby Blimm is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No luck for Dog with that takedown attempt.
Bobby Blimm seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dog will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bobby Blimm has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Crazy Dog.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Blimm closes the distance and clinches up with Dog, looking for a takedown. Blimm pushes Dog against the cage but Dog circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Blimm throws the kick towards the body but Dog avoids it.
Horrible takedown by Dog or perhaps it was just good defense by Blimm which made him look bad.
Dog has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Blimm is looking to clinch but Dog is avoiding it.
Dog shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Blimm as he avoids it easily.
Dog ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Blimm uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Dog.

Dog fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Blimm to the ground. Dog is now in Blimm's guard.
Blimm is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Dog wants to control from the top but Blimm keeps moving.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Blimm bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dog's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Blimm throws a strike but Dog rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Crazy Dog showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Blimm takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Blimm looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Dog drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Dog throws an elbow but Blimm slips to the side and avoids it well.

Blimm has his hands clasped together around Dog's back. He's all about the action.
Blimm is looking for a sweep. Dog is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Dog smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Dog shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Blimm eats them both and turns towards Dog to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Blimm keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Blimm moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Blimm looks to land a combination but Dog avoids it well.
Blimm walks into a straight right hand from Dog.
Crazy Dog seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Blimm shoots for a double leg takedown but Dog sprawls well. He's pushed Blimm's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Blimm fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Blimm dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Dog. That did some damage!
Blimm takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Crazy Dog comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dog has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
