Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vitor Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brynden Tully (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vitor Gracie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 26 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Vitor Gracie!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brynden Tully!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie misses with a double jab.
Gracie closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.


It looks like Vitor Gracie has been cut.
Gracie has been working on his boxing with his coaches at OMG! They clinched Kenny! in the buildup to the fight.
Gracie throws a body punch but Tully moves out of range.
Tully swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Tully scores with a leg kick.

Gracie changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tully looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Gracie fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Tully is looking to reverse the position.
The referee asks Gracie politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gracie prefers to stall for the moment though.
Gracie trying to control the action but Tully is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie throws an elbow but Tully slips to the side and avoids it well.
Gracie working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Tully felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Gracie stands up.
Brynden Tully is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gracie fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Gracie moves out of range as Tully strikes.
Tully throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tully pinned against the cage. Tully gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tully fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Gracie looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Tully attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Gracie closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Gracie ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gracie no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Tully must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Gracie wants to sweep here but Tully controlling him for the moment.
Tully content to stall in guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tully tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.

Tully avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tully stopping the sweep attempt from Gracie.
Tully trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom.
Tully advances position into side control!
Tully is staying tight to Gracie's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Tully moves into full mount!
Tully tries to control but Gracie wriggling away.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Tully controlling from mount.
Gracie wants to control but Tully is having none of it.
Gracie working to try and regain half guard.
Tully looking to control but Gracie is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Tully controlling the position easily from mount.
Gracie is trying to escape the mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Brynden Tully will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Vitor Gracie's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Tully throws a body punch but Gracie moves out of range.
Gracie with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Tully to score with a decent uppercut.
Tully lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Tully tries a low kick but Gracie avoids it.

Gracie moves into the clinch.

Gracie is trying to trip Tully. He has hold of a leg but Tully is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Gracie persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Tully controlling the position.
Gracie prevents Tully from getting back to his feet.
Gracie trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Vitor Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Tully working a defensive guard here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gracie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tully is keeping the position for now.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Tully manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Gracie wants to hold on but Tully pushes him away.
Gracie can't escape the position.
Tully controlling his opponent.
Gracie is trying desperately to improve position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gracie bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Tully keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Gracie closes the distance and pushes Tully back into the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Tully creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Tully is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Gracie is defending well for now.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gracie drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tully wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Tully tries to stall but Gracie uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Tully lands a right hand that snaps the head of Gracie backwards.
Tully lands with a short punch from the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Tully - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Gracie prevents a body shot from Tully.
Gracie is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Tully pulls him back up using the underhooks.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Gracie turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Tully is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Gracie happy to just control the position for now.
Tully is looking for a sweep.
Tully is trying to control Gracie's posture but Gracie avoids it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gracie working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Gracie wants to control but Tully is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Vitor Gracie will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Vitor Gracie's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Tully throws a series of punches but Gracie moves out of range.
A nice inside leg kick there by Tully. That's going to slow Gracie down.
Tully looks to score with a jab to the body but Gracie is just out of range.
Tully scores with a kick to the body.

Gracie has Tully up against the cage in a clinch.
Tully is trying to break the clinch but Gracie has him pressed against the cage.
Gracie drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gracie has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Tully avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tully tries to work over Gracie's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Gracie changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Tully fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vitor Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tully throws out a leg kick but Gracie moves out of range and Tully only half commits.
Gracie moves in looking to clinch but Tully pushes him off.
Tully throws a right and a left that both miss.
Tully lands with a thumping leg kick.
Tully lands with a shot to the body.
Tully is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Gracie rather than just go for the knockout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gracie tries for a takedown but Tully sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Tully throws a low kick but it's checked well by Gracie.
Tully cracks Gracie with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Tully throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Gracie on the side of the head.
Crunch! Tully slams his shin into Gracie's torso.
Tully swats away the attempt to clinch by Gracie.
Tully pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gracie tries to clinch up but Tully circles away and keeps his distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tully misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Gracie counters with a series of strikes. Tully will be more careful next time no doubt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown. Tully tries to sprawl out of it but Gracie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tully manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Tully stuffs the takedown.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gracie.
A big left from Tully misses.

Gracie has managed to clinch.
Tully tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Gracie's elbow.
Still in the clinch, Tully scores with a nice short uppercut.
Tully is pressed up against the cage. Gracie has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tully down to the mat. Tully avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tully throws a nice looking combination but Gracie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Tully.
Brynden Tully seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tully fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Tully connects with an inside leg kick.
Tully dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Gracie looks for a takedown but Tully sprawls well.
Tully throws a sloppy head kick and Gracie moves out of range easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tully throws a shot from downtown. Gracie moves away and avoids it.
Tully throws a leg kick but Gracie sees it coming and moves out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brynden Tully comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Tully has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Vitor Gracie retains his title. It's always disappointing when a championship fight ends as a draw but that's what happens when you leave the fight in the judges hands!
