Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mashine scores with a jab to the head.
It looks like Geraldo Cortez has been cut.
Mashine throws a right and a left that both miss.
Cortez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mashine throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mashine throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Cortez counters by moving into the clinch.
Cortez stalling against the cage.
Mashine misses with a knee to the head.
Mashine lands with a right to the head.
Cortez successfully pulls guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mashine is looking to stand up but Cortez won't let him.
Cortez looking for a sweep. Not yet Cortez, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cortez is adopting a defensive guard.
Mashine would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Mashine looks winded!

Mashine won't allow Cortez to sweep him here.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mashine gets tackled into the cage by Cortez. Cortez maintains the clinch.
Mashine throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Mashine presses Cortez against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Cortez is trying to pull guard but Mashine has him pressed against the cage.
Mashine tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Cortez avoids it.
Cortez works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cortez drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mashine looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mashine looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mashine!
Cortez tries to improve position but can't.
Mashine wants to stand but Cortez is controlling his arm.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cortez is holding Mashine down, trying to stall.
Cortez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cortez sneaks back into half guard.
Cortez slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Cortez pulls Mashine in close to prevent any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cortez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mashine's guard.
Cortez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Cortez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Cortez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Cortez distracts Mashine with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Cortez drops back looking for a leg! Mashine is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mashine manages to kick Cortez off! Cortez jumps back into Mashine's guard.
Cortez content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mashine wants to stand and escape. He's got his foot on Cortez's hips, looking to push off. But Cortez grabs a hold of the leg and drops back for an ankle lock! It's hard to tell if he's got it. Both fighters look composed - OH, not anymore they don't! Mashine screams like a kid who's trapped his fingers in the car door and taps out! Yikes, that must have hurt - hopefully it's not snapped anything!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). Geraldo Cortez!
