PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stacey Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Right Jab (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Right Jab told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Stacey Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Right Jab!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab wants to clinch up but Reyes keeps it at a distance.

Reyes pushes Jab up against the cage in a clinch.

Jab manages to pull guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Reyes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reyes is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Jab working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Reyes.
Jab utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Reyes looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Reyes missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Stacey Reyes just wasn't active enough.
Jab will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jab closes the distance and clinches.
Jab tries a body shot but Reyes blocks it.
Jab misses with a hook to the ribs.

Jab breaks from the clinch.
Reyes swats away the attempt to clinch by Jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Reyes moves into the clinch successfully.

Jab gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Reyes is concentrating on defense, preventing Jab from advancing position.
Reyes really is a fat lump.
Reyes tries to kick Jab off but Jab keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Reyes slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Reyes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Reyes is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Jab presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Reyes is trying to break free.
Jab misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Jab tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Reyes avoids it.
Jab is pressed up against the cage. Reyes has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jab down to the mat. Jab avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jab pushes Reyes away with a front kick.
Reyes tries to clinch but Jab moves out of range.
Reyes circles away from the clinch attempt.
Reyes is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Jab closes the distance and pushes Reyes back into the cage.
Jab tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Reyes avoids it.
Jab gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Reyes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jab tries to throw a body punch but Reyes avoids it by throwing Jab back against the cage.
Jab tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Reyes avoids it.

Jab pulls guard effortlessly.
Reyes lands a couple of elbows.
Jab looking to control.
Reyes preventing the sweep.
Reyes lands a couple of elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Reyes sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Reyes postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Stacey Reyes will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Jab rushes Reyes and presses him up against the cage.
Reyes tries to pull guard but Jab won't allow it.
Jab is working Reyes over against the cage.

Reyes jumps guard.

Reyes looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Jab is defending well. Reyes quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Jab has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Reyes celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Stacey Reyes!
