PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Sch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grant Nasse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sch's entrance music is aint no grave. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rob Sch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Grant Nasse!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Daniel Franklin and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nasse throws a sloppy head kick and Sch moves out of range easily.
Nasse tries to clinch

and Sch counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Sch looking to throw knees to the head but Nasse is blocking nicely.
Sch gets underhooks to prevent Nasse's takedown attempt.

Sch works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Sch decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Sch gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Sch breaks the clinch.
Nasse tries to clinch up

and Sch holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Sch lands a shot to the body.
Sch blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sch escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sch scores with a one two! Nasse had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Sch misses with a body kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nasse doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Sch moves into the clinch.

Sch is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Nasse can't fight it off and eventually Sch manages to take the fight to the floor. Nasse looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Sch is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sch stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Nasse tries to clinch up.
Nasse tries to clinch but Sch moves away

and Sch counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Sch.
Nasse tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Sch avoids it.
Sch stalling.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Nasse just misses with a elbow thrown towards Sch's brow.
Sch managing to block the knees to the body from Nasse.

Sch gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sch slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sch with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Sch gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Nasse tries to clinch but Sch moves away
and Sch counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Nasse is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Sch counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Sch.

Sch manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Sch working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nasse doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nasse manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sch wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sch will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Nasse really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sch. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Sch throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Nasse wants to clinch up but Sch keeps it at a distance.
Nasse leaves Sch with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Sch counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Sch gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Sch is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Sch pushes down on Nasse's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Sch controlling the action here.

Sch slips a nice elbow through Nasse's hands, connecting with Nasse's forehead.
Sch keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rob Sch overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Rob Sch just wasn't active enough.
Nasse tries to clinch up

and Sch counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Nasse's guard now.

Sch stands up from guard. Let's bang!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nasse wants to clinch

and Sch counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sch.
Sch distracts Nasse with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Sch makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Nasse is breathing heavily.

Sch is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Sch works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Sch controlling the action here.

Nasse is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Sch has latched onto it... Big trouble! Sch pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Nasse is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Sch!

Rob Sch decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
