PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carl Raphson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lukas Ioannou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Lukas Ioannou was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carl Raphson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lukas Ioannou!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raphson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ioannou circles away quickly and effectively.
Raphson moves to clinch but Ioannou breaks away
and Ioannou counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Ioannou tries to keep at a distance but Raphson has taken the fight into the clinch.

Ioannou wants the takedown. Raphson is fighting it off but Ioannou persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Raphson's guard against the ropes.
Ioannou missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Ioannou told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Ioannou drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Raphson dives on top into guard.
Raphson looking to sit in guard and control but Ioannou gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Ioannou is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Raphson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Raphson has escaped and now he's on top!
Raphson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Ioannou had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Raphson defends it easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Carl Raphson.

Raphson closes the distance and pushes Ioannou back into the ropes.
Raphson misses with an elbow over the top.
Raphson prevents a takedown attempt there.

It looks like Lukas Ioannou has been cut.

Raphson feints and then cracks Ioannou's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ioannou down.
