The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hartley rushes Witt and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Witt jumps guard but Hartley stands there with Witt around his waist. Witt gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hartley can't get the takedown.
Witt tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hartley smiles and moves away.
Hartley lands a lovely overhand right.

It looks like Carrol Witt has been cut.
Hartley wants to clinch.
Hartley throws a half hearted mid kick.
Hartley throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Witt looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carrol Witt. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Witt fails to pull guard.
Witt is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hartley to keep the fight standing.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Hartley wants to free his trapped foot but Witt is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Hartley decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Hartley pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Hartley throws a sloppy head kick and Witt moves out of range easily.
Witt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hartley's waist but Hartley gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Witt off to one side.

Hartley closes the distance and pushes Witt back into the cage.
Hartley has had enough of the clinch but Witt keeps him there for the moment.

Witt wants to break free but Hartley has control.

Hartley is pushing Witt up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Hartley has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Witt is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Witt is trying to pull guard but Hartley has him pressed against the cage.

Hartley manages to break the clinch.
Hartley shoots in for a takedown but Witt shows good takedown defense.
Hartley tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hartley defending well as Witt loads up on a big left hand.
Witt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Witt is trying to pull guard but Hartley has him pressed against the cage.

Hartley is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Witt is defending well for now.
Witt prevents Hartley from breaking the clinch.
Witt is trying to pull guard but Hartley turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Hartley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hartley moves in looking to clinch but Witt pushes him off.
Witt showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hartley.
Witt is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hartley sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hartley fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hartley misses with a low kick as Witt jumps back.

Hartley lands a left and a right that send Witt crashing to the mat, dazed. Hartley thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

A chopping leg kick lands by Hartley.

Witt is rocked!
Trev Hartley seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Hartley closes the distance looking for a takedown. Hartley picks Witt up and slams him brutally to the floor. Witt is out! He's out cold! Wow, you don't see a finish like that every day!
