Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rorthrar Gracie! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Diaz was well out of range. Poor timing from Gracie. Gracie shoots in but no luck this time. Diaz fails in his attempt to clinch. Diaz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gracie looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Diaz trying to control the position but Gracie is working away. Diaz in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Gracie is not content to let Diaz control the position. Diaz working away. Diaz in side control, just content to control the action for now. Diaz trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz tries to advance to mount but can't. Gracie tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Diaz wants to control the pace but Gracie is squirming around nicely. Gracie tries to lock up and control but Diaz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Diaz thowing shots but they're missing. Diaz raining down shots from the mount! Gracie tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz looking to control but Gracie is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Gracie bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Gracie postures up.
Diaz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gracie controls the pace. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Diaz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gracie is one step ahead there. Diaz trying to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Diaz is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Diego Diaz. Diaz tries to clinch but Gracie moves out of range. Gracie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Diaz is fending him off so far but Gracie persists. Nope, Diaz circles away and we're back to standing. Diaz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gracie was covering up waiting for the punch and Diaz finishes the takedown easily into guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gracie holds on and takes a little breather. Diaz throws a big right hand that misses. Diaz throws a big elbow that misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz throwing strikes but missing. Diaz trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom. Gracie is trying to keep Diaz in close.
Diaz loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Our spies down at at WarZone Training Facility 1 inform us that Gracie has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Diaz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Diaz with a flurry of punches that miss. Gracie keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Diaz throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Gracie counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Diaz's guard now. Diaz has his foot on Gracie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gracie works his way back into a safe position though. Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Diego Diaz dominated that round. That's time! Diaz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Diaz darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Diaz trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom. Diaz is figuring out what he wants to do next. Gracie tries to get to full guard but Diaz has control of the leg. Gracie is staying active underneath Diaz, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gracie is looking to control Diaz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gracie avoid being mounted? We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Diaz is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gracie sees it coming and defends easily. Gracie works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Diaz with a flurry of punches that miss. Gracie is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Rorthrar Gracie has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Diaz darts in and clinches Gracie up against the ropes. Diaz works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Gracie keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. The fight stays on the outside here - Diaz looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Diego Diaz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Diaz stuffs the takedown attempt from Gracie. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet. Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gracie swats him away and circles back towards the center. Diaz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Diaz stays in close to Gracie's body and controls the position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gracie swivels though and keeps the full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Diego Diaz dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Gracie shoots for a double leg takedown but Diaz sprawls well. He's pushed Gracie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Diaz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gracie. Gracie instigates a clinch. Gracie fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Diego Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rorthrar Gracie. Diaz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Gracie misses with an uppercut. Gracie misses with a takedown attempt and Diaz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gracie's guard. Diaz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Gracie keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully. Gracie has Diaz pulled in close to control his posture. Gracie takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Diaz slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz wants to control but Gracie is keeping him busy. Diaz has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Gracie! Diaz wants to control the pace but Gracie is squirming around nicely. Gracie blocking the ground and pound. Diaz controlling his opponent. Diaz avoids the attempt from Gracie to control. Diaz scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Gracie?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie wants to hold on but Diaz pushes him away. Diaz trying to control but he's not successful this time. BOOM! Diaz connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Diaz lands a big shot there that rocks Gracie but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Diaz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gracie is looking to escape. Diaz thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Gracie is working to get back to half guard.
Diaz takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Gracie tries to lock up and control but Diaz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie regains half guard. Diaz tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gracie knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Gracie is not content to let Diaz control the position. Gracie is trying is best to control the position here. Diaz has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Gracie wants to hold on but Diaz pushes him away. Diaz thowing shots but they're missing. Diaz trying to control but Gracie is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Gracie tries to lock up and control but Diaz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Diego Diaz is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Diaz looking to control but Gracie is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Diego Diaz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The referee warns Gracie that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

And that's the end of the fight! Diego Diaz showed his dominance in that final round. Well Diaz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
