Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nestor Walsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nestor Walsh! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Christian Chavez! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chavez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Walsh manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Chavez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Chavez looking to pass the guard. Chavez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Chavez tries to free his leg and advance position but Walsh is retaining full guard. Walsh wants to stand and escape but Chavez is having none of it. Chavez drops back, looking for a kneebar! Walsh looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Walsh looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Walsh! A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walsh working the ground and pound. Chavez can't do much from the bottom here. Walsh throwing shots but missing, from side control. Walsh landing strikes. Walsh content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Chavez on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chavez looking for a sweep but Walsh has passed into full mount! Oh no! Walsh scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Walsh thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Chavez tries to hold on but Walsh pushes him away. Walsh landing strikes from the mount. Walsh moves to the back. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Walsh controlling well, preventing Chavez from escaping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Walsh is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Walsh gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Walsh gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Walsh apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Chavez swats away the attempt to clinch by Walsh. Walsh moves into the clinch successfully.
Walsh has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Chavez uses from the top position. Walsh is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chavez tries to free his leg and advance position but Walsh is retaining full guard. Walsh really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Walsh is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Chavez presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. A nice left hand lands by Walsh.
Walsh tries to score a body lock takedown but Chavez shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Walsh gets control of Chavez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Walsh will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Walsh wants to sweep but no luck. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Chavez looking to pass the guard. Chavez advances to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nestor Walsh dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Walsh moves in looking to clinch but Chavez pushes him off. Walsh clinches. Walsh lands an uppercut. Walsh is trying to pull guard but Chavez turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Chavez is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Walsh can't fight it off and eventually Chavez manages to take the fight to the floor. Walsh looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Chavez is looking to pass into half guard but Walsh pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Walsh is in guard. Nestor Walsh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Chavez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Chavez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walsh connects with a couple of short punches. Walsh postures up in Chavez's guard and throws a big left but Chavez blocks it. Chavez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Chavez wants to improve his position but instead Walsh has moved into half guard.
Walsh scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Walsh thows a huge punch but Chavez dodges it nicely.
Chavez is looking to get back to full guard here but Walsh has managed to pass to side control instead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chavez is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Walsh off and has taken his back! Chavez throwing strikes and Walsh squirms under the pressure, ending up mounted. Walsh tries to hold on but Chavez postures up. You get the feeling that Walsh really doesn't like being in this position too much.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Chavez get's back to his feet. A momentary lapse in concentration from Walsh enables Chavez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Walsh manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Walsh is looking to stand up but Chavez isn't so interested in that idea. Walsh uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Walsh gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Walsh is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Chavez is controlling him. Chavez trying to control but Walsh is working from the bottom. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chavez decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Chavez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Walsh sprawls well initially but Chavez persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Chavez is trying to control the action in half guard but Walsh is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Christian Chavez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Chavez tries to control but Walsh wriggling away. Chavez is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Chavez is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Walsh has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Walsh!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Walsh wants to control from the top but Chavez keeps moving. Chavez wants to stand up but Walsh is controlling him. Chavez controlling the position.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Christian Chavez wasn't active enough on the ground. Chavez tries to keep at a distance but Walsh has taken the fight into the clinch. Chavez pulls guard effortlessly.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chavez is trying to control the position but Walsh postures up. Chavez has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Walsh has passed into side control.

Walsh working the ground and pound from side control. Walsh will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Walsh cracks Chavez with an elbow. That is naaassty. Chavez struggling a bit here. Chavez regains half guard there - taking advantage of Walsh's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Chavez tries to roll over but Walsh keeps him under control.
And that's the end of the fight! Christian Chavez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Chavez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
